  1. To come to NewTek's defense,  NewTek's wanted the alpha and SGI versions =
  2. of LightWave to be highly supported They reasoned that a well supported =
  3. channel like DeskStation's was the best way to achieve this.  They did =
  4. not use the other alpha clone's manufactures because most of them sell =
  5. mail order only, a channel not generally known for its support efforts.  =

  8. Ok, you say how about I buy from my Pentium dealer?   Well, most Pentium =
  9. dealers are commodity orientated, another channel that is not generally =
  10. known from its high level support.

  12. Basically the bottom line is this, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!  =
  13. Workstation users pay more and they get more!=20

  54. He's not misinformed. I've been a Newtek dealer for a long time and
  55. they continuely do things to make life difficult for dealers to sell
  56. and support the product. I called recently to find out about if our
  57. dealership ( Washington Professional Systems ) could still buy
  58. Lightwave 3D for Alpha for our customers, who would rather purchase
  59. from us, and was told that, because of the Deskstation deal, Newtek
  60. could sell us Lightwave 3D for Alpha but only at the list price of
  61. $1995.00. So much for dealers selling Lightwave 3D for DEC Alpha.
